We wanted to explore how sleep produces states of the body that can be perceived as subversive as a counterpoint to the ambient frenzy and imposed work rhythm of the school environment. The physical starting point was the idea of a “body- comfort”, and how the body can meet and embrace the place and its architecture, gestures as rituals of preparation for sleep, and bodies that melt and surrender to gravity, intertwine and entangle. It's the imaginary of rest and the forbidden that we wanted to conjure up, and that's what made us want to articulate these two notions together. We also worked on how to induce movement in the audience, playing with focal points and details of the space, inviting the audience to move closer, to separate or to follow the dancers' movement through the space.
